While most other manufacturers cast or forge their bottom bracket tools, we machine ours for greater precision. Whenever you're dealing with anodized surfaces, great care needs to be taken to keep those surfaces from getting marred, gouged, and stripped out. That can be nearly impossible with some spanner style tools, and difficult with other loose-fitting sockets. The most unique feature about this tool is the inner nub; that nub in the center of the tool is the same size as the crank spindle. What this does is give you a second point of contact that keeps the tool from coming off of the part when trying to remove stubborn cups. This dual sided socket is designed to work with the new Shimano DA-9000/XTR-BB93 bottom bracket as well 6800 Ultegra and 5800 105 11spd groups (BBR-60).

The Italian Army Knife, a very SILCA take on the traditional multi-tool. We've addressed the things that frustrate us with conventional multi-tools, while keeping the layout that fits conveniently in the SILCA EOLO Wallet or MATTONE. The mid-length tool design is long enough to provide access to recessed fasteners, but short enough not to experience twist or damage under moderate torque as can happen on longer tools. All tools are forged rather than bent from hex stock. While this method of construction is more expensive, the value is unquestioned during a road-side repair. Bottom brackets have some of the highest torque specs of any component found on a bicycle. Despite this, some bottom bracket cups feature tool fittings that allow mere millimeters of engagement, which can be a problem when attempting removal or installation. Solution: the Park Tool Bottom Bracket Tool Retaining System. Used in conjunction with nearly any Park Tool bottom bracket tool, the BBT-RS uses a spring-based tension system to apply consistent, adjustable pressure to the tool, ensuring full engagement with the tool fitting and preventing slippage. The BBT-RS can be configured for use with the vast majority of threaded and thread-together bottom bracket standards.
